Install

1. Download the current install-tl-unx.tar.gz, gunzip and untar it to /src/util.
2. Change directory:

   
   [lethe] % cd /src/util/texlive/install-tl-20100512
   
   

3. Run the installation GUI script:

   
   [lethe] install-tl-20100512% sudo ./install-tl --gui=text
   
   

4. Within the GUI, select options:
   • <O> options: Select all options. Point symlinks to /util/bin, /util/man, and /util/info. Then <R> return to main menu
   • <D> directories: <1> TEXDIR /util/texlive-20100512, <R> return to main menu
   • Other actions: <I> start installation to hard disk
5. Watch all 2077 components of Tex Live install.
6. Make this current Tex Live the system default:

   
   [lethe] /util% sudo ln -s texlive-20100512 texlive
   
   

Notes

1. Update the package databases after adding individual .sty files to the distribution:

   
   [artemis] ~% sudo /util/texlive-20170612/bin/x86_64-linux/texhash
   
   texhash: Updating /util/texlive-20170612/texmf-config/ls-R... 
   texhash: Updating /util/texlive-20170612/texmf-dist/ls-R... 
   texhash: Updating /util/texlive-20170612/texmf-local/ls-R... 
   texhash: Updating /util/texlive-20170612/texmf-var/ls-R... 
   texhash: Done.
