Introduction

CSE IT Staff

CSE has a full-time IT staff dedicated to helping CSE faculty, staff, and students. If you're not sure where to turn for help, start with the CSE IT staff first. We manage all of the services listed in the CSE IT Services Catalog.

Email sent to cse-consult@buffalo.edu gets entered into a special online tracking system. You will immediately receive an automated reply that gives you some information about the "ticket" that is used to track your request and make sure it gets handled appropriately. This message is just for your reference. Once someone gets a chance to answer your question, you will receive email from that person.

Please do not send email to individual staff members or students working for the department as consultants. You may guess right about who will handle any given question, but more often than not, you will guess wrong. Staff members' job responsibilities change over time, people take time off for vacations or illness, and so on. Requests sent to the cse-consult tracking system will be visible to all staff and can be taken care of by any of us. You may never receive a reply to email sent to individual staff members or student consultants.

CSE Help Desk

Our student-staffed Help Desk provides these services:

  1. General PC consulting.
  2. Operating System consulting (UNIX, Linux, MAC, Windows).
  3. E-mail file and folder backups.
  4. Reasonable academic computing help requests.
